June 23, 2010 – Interview with THE Business Coach for MomsTM,  Teisha Shelby-Houston (aka Lady T)

Today I was interviewed by THE Business Coach for MomsTM, Teisha Shelby-Houston (aka Lady T) on her blogtalk radio show Powerful Women Only.  Through her show and her work as a business coach, Lady T helps moms grow flourishing, home-base businesses.  As a mother of 5 and an entrepreneur for 15 years, Lady T is commited to empowering moms to fulfill their professional pursuits.

In my interview with Lady T, we discussed how the concept of Mommy Leadership can help not only working moms, but also mompreneurs recognize the value of their motherhood experience.  This point cannot be overstated! Motherhood enriches a women and the skills and behaviors she develops while rearing her children and running her home can be valuable as she leads in professional environments.

Lady T and I couldn’t cover everything in the  45-minutes we had (it went by so quickly!), including a discussion on mothers with special challenges.  In Mommy Leadership: How to Use Your Motherhood Experience to Grow as a Leader I highlight how mothers with special challenges such as single parenting and blended families are especially apt to develop certain leadership skills.
